Efficient solids removal ahead of filtration. Greenson supplies lateral flow inclined plate settlers, hydraulic cyclone grid flocculation reactors and automated inclined plate sludge removal devices for municipal water treatment plants, water supply upgrades and industrial wastewater applications. Every system assembles as modular blocks with no welding or bonding on site, and is sized to your existing tank dimensions and design flow.

Lateral Flow A-Type Inclined Plate Settler

Lateral flow A-type inclined plate settler pack

The lateral flow A-type inclined plate settler is built on lateral flow sedimentation theory, with the water flowing horizontally while settled solids descend vertically. Separating the water path from the sludge path removes the mutual interference found in conventional counter-flow designs and delivers consistently high settling efficiency. The plates assemble as building blocks with no welding or bonding required, and the pack can be supplied in FRP, PVC or stainless steel frames to suit the tank and the service environment.

Features:

  • Compact footprint with flexible layout that makes full use of the sedimentation tank
  • Stable effluent quality with strong resistance to load variation and shock
  • Solar radiation reaches only the topmost layer, extending overall service life
  • High settling efficiency, producing effluent 1 to 2 NTU lower than counter-flow inclined tube settlers under equivalent conditions
  • Optional automatic flushing device allows cleaning without taking the tank out of service
  • Modular block assembly with no welding or bonding, giving stable form and simple installation
  • Supports both gravity and mechanical sludge withdrawal

Patented quick-assembly V-type inclined plate unit design.

Traverse Type Sludge Removal Device

Traverse type inclined plate sludge removal device

The traverse type sludge removal device is the companion cleaning system for the lateral flow A-type inclined plate settler. A dedicated pipework system sweeps the plates with a low pressure horizontal water flow, lifting accumulated sludge without draining the tank or requiring manual cleaning. The unit carries its own travelling mechanism and can be scheduled to run outside peak hours under automatic control, with operators setting run time and the number of wash passes.

Because washing is carried out at low pressure, the effect on settled water turbidity stays within a range that does not compromise effluent targets or disturb the downstream filtration stage.

Features:

  • Low pressure horizontal sweep washing removes the need for manual plate cleaning
  • No tank drain-down required during cleaning
  • Integrated low pressure wash system and travelling mechanism
  • Automatic control of run time and number of wash passes
  • Schedulable to avoid peak demand periods
  • Minimal effect on settled water quality and downstream filtration

Patented adjustable scraper plate sludge cleaning design.

Hydraulic Cyclone Grid Flocculation Reactor

Hydraulic cyclone grid flocculation reactor installed in a flocculation basin

The hydraulic cyclone grid flocculation reactor applies turbulence theory to flocculation basin design and can be built alongside horizontal flow, inclined tube or inclined plate sedimentation tanks. The basin is divided into a series of equal area cells connected in sequence, with each cell fitted with several layers of grid. Openings in the dividing walls alternate between top and bottom, driving the water up and down as it travels toward the outlet.

As the flow passes each grid it contracts and then expands, forming vortices that promote particle collision and squeeze water out of the floc interior. Working with the coagulant dose, this produces dense, readily separated floc. Grid density is controlled in three stages, dense at the inlet end, sparse through the middle and no grid in the final section.

Features:

  • Turbulence based design suited to grid flocculation basins
  • Can be built together with horizontal flow, inclined tube or inclined plate sedimentation tanks
  • Multi-cell series layout with alternating top and bottom wall openings
  • Three-stage grid density control from dense to sparse to open
  • Vortex action promotes particle collision and dense floc formation
  • Improves downstream sedimentation and filtration performance

Patented cyclone flocculation mechanism and hydraulic cyclone grid flocculation reactor design.
